Introduction

In 2014, God encouraged our missionaries to start the work in Vanuatu and after the first excursion trip, the island of Espirito Santo was chosen to be the base of the work in the country. After one year, the provincial government provided a property in the town of Luganville, for the establishment of the ministry in Espirito Santo. Multiple outreaches were organized and the first mission base was built.
The mission project, God Will Provide Vanuatu, is part of God Will Provide Global Association, an international ministry that is spreading the Gospel through church planting, rehabilitation centers, missionary schools, orphanages and crusade outreaches in different parts of the world. The project is overseen by God Will Provide Church in Vienna, Austria.
Vanuatu is home to about 280,000 people. Though mostly reached with the Gospel, Espirito Santo is still home to many un-reached “Kastom” villages, that hold on to traditional animistic belief and are firmly opposed towards Christianity. In the summer of 2018, God opened the door to this field in one of the least reached regions of Vanuatu to the mission team of GWP Vanuatu.
Our goal is to reach these tribes with the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, provide medical help through permanent facilities and outreaches and ultimately plant indigenous churches in un-reached areas.

Strategies

  • Building up a mission hub to serve as housing for missionaries, a training center and a place of worship for the mission team and local believers.
  • Training and equipping of local believers for the work of ministry and for building up the Body of Christ.
  • Making disciples and training local converts to build up an indigenous mission team and church leadership.
  • Building partnership with local churches and other mission groups across denominations, to further the kingdom of God together.
  • Organizing outreaches into rural areas with missionaries to proclaim the good news of Jesus to the people of Vanuatu.
  • Building medical facilities in the rural region to provide basic health service with national nurses and midwifes.

Main Projects

Luganville Mission Hub
Currently we are leasing a property in the town of Luganville, but we are looking to purchase a property that can facilitate all mission projects and housing for the long-term. The mission hub houses a missionary community that reaches out to the neighbors and serves as a base for all outreaches into the rural areas. It is also used as a training and worship center, where the team seeks to live in fellowship with God and each other.
Selei Mission Station
The region of Selei is the entry point to what is known as “Santo Bush”, where most of the un-reached tribes live. In 2018, we finished construction of a bush clinic in partnership with provincial  government and the local ministry “Santo Bush Mission”. This provides the surrounding tribes with much needed medical assistance and also allows us to build relationship with patients from un-reached tribes. The station houses a small clinic, staffed with a full-time local nurse, accommodation for mission teams and a church building. In June 2019, constriction of a birth center on the station is planned.
Medical Outreaches
GWP Vanuatu is in partnership with medical doctors and nurses from different countries. We organize medical outreaches both in town and in the rural areas, where no health facilities exist. Medical outreaches serve as a great way to provide a holistic Gospel presentation, during which we can serve the people medically, but also provide for spiritual needs with prayer, counseling and sharing the good news of Jesus.

Future Plans

We are working towards the establishment of a rehabilitation center here in town. Drug and alcohol addiction are widespread among young adults. There is no known center like this in all of the country that provides a place where people with addiction problems can find hope and deliverance through Jesus Christ and become solid disciples.
God Will Provide mission has extensive experience with rehabilitation work and we hope to open a Life Change Center here in Luganville. This will also serve as a good training ground to be able to raise up local leaders and missionaries.
Our plans and prayers are to plant and equip indigenous churches in the mountain regions, to reach out to villages that are closed off to the Gospel otherwise. At the moment, we’re building relationships during treks into the highlands and throughout the construction process of the clinic in Selei. The doors to the un-reached places are slowly opening up and we believe God has called us to bring light into dark places, where fear and animism dictate the life of the tribes.
